Violent

The beast
slavering, rumbling, growling, straining
at the leash, throwing itself wall to door.
Its chains
slinking, creaking, bending, yielding
crack, snap, releasing once more.
Freed, it goes
hurtling, propelling, spitting, roaring
frenzied, bending, following its maw.
Reaching the surface
rearing, veering, blazing, hissing,
acrid breath, gouging gore -
The beast
slaked, shaken, lamb-like, meek
pads wearily, warily, returns underground.
Slips back
sated, weighted, exhausted, deflated,
drops to the floor making no sound.
The ugly head
laid down in sleep long, strong, dreamless, deep
in darkness violence submerged, drowned
The beast
untamed though quenched, has the stench
of unnamed fury, absolution unfound.
