Cade 16

“You were wise to bring us this issue Gainrel,” Venjamin, the leader of the seven Legna council spoke. “We are hearing many disturbing reports from the field.”

Chapter 15 “Shifter,” Cade spat. Razar growled deep in his throat and stalked toward the beautiful woman.

The sweet sickly smell of death hung in the air. Cade entered cautiously though he knew from Razar's silence the room was empty, or almost. For there, on an old hay stuffed mattress in the corner lay the very dead Max. Cade walked over to the body and flinched. Max was lying on his back, eyes wide open and completely naked. What was left of the blood and bile in his body saturated the mattress in a peculiar pattern.

DeTac towered above Max and Rotta. She reached for Rotta with one of the hairy black spider legs. Rotta fought with all her might but was unable to free herself from the strength in that grasp. "What are you doing? Rotta screamed feeling her sanity starting to slip. "Seeing that you fulfill your promise girl, DeTac said as she pulled Rotta toward the back room. Rotta tugged with all her might but to no avail. "What, what is it you wish me to carry for you? DeTac stopped. In one fluid and viscously fast movement, bent her torso low, ugly twisted face even with Rotta's lovely one. "A child.

Rotta walked down the stairs of the hasma with Max following close behind. The place was full tonight, as every night of the festival. She surveyed the crowd and found her next pigeon, a small man as wide as he was tall, a balding pallet and crimson face. She wasn't concerned with his physical features however, but more with the many gold rings he wore upon his fingers, and the expensive cut of his vest.
