I like the fact that you left this with only a partial discovery, where Eve doesn't learn all the details about her mother's affair. I'd guess it's quite true to life.

I think it takes some time - maybe a little too long - for the tension to build, but once the creature emerges it's effective, and the twist at the end works nicely.

Not sure, but it's s slyly funny, entertaining story that builds a nice air of intrigue and comes to a satsifying conclusion. Nice on Assassin.

Considering it's an extract this works very well as a standalone piece. A credible slice of the type of angst that affects many people at some stage in their life, but with a nice uplifting conclusion. Good one Harry.

One typo: you talk about a temp making positive notices when I think you mean noises.
