I don't think we'll get a true gist of how perfect our universe is until we can compare it with others. There's nothing more mind-teasing than the incomprehensible eagerly avowed - Dennett

Doe we need the universe to be "perfect"? {{{_"P"_}}} ... What is "The Art of Tea"? ... (www.pepsoid.wordpress.com - latest... Can We Ever Really Know the Truth About Anything?)

I suppose we have our own definitions of a perfect universe. I wouldn't mind a brain that pumped out more dopamine and those cannabanoid receptors could do with a tweaking. I'd like to be able to wake up in the morning and be so fucking happy that I could just lay on the grass all day going, "fuckin' wow!" That would be nice. It could have happened but we got this instead! haha :) There's nothing more mind-teasing than the incomprehensible eagerly avowed - Dennett

"In my view, analysing the nature of life and the world and the universe always boils down to one issue: the meaning of everything disappears. Yes, it might be 'in balance'. But so what? It might be perfect? Well, what difference does it make?" I think it makes all the difference in the world whether we view the universe as perfect or flawed. But 'perfect' doesn't necessarily mean 'perfect for me'. It just means that there is nothing wrong with things. But this is just a starting point for the real goal. I think that once we have gotten rid of notions t hat there is something wrong with the universe. (which is a fundamental tenet of a number of religions) we are ready to love . And by 'love' I don't mean having a print of some Hubbell generated photos on your wall, blowing kisses at it, what I mean is that whatever we encounter we learn to view as right and as deserving of its existence as we are . This isn't easy. So many of us, myself included, have fixed notions of what ought to be and what ought not to be and we unconsciously apply them to everything we come across. But when we do t his, we are creating an 'I' who is judging and an 'it' that is being judged. When we accept everything as it is or I should say if we manage to accept it, the difference between subject and object disappears and we arre at one with everything. But when I say accept, I don't mean, thinking to myself 'I accept this', Rather we take it in just as it is without any kind of value judgement at all. This takes practice and I don't manage it often but the times I do it is like ecstasy. I have been in a crowded train station and suddenly was part of a slow motion dance included all of the people rushing by me. But at times when I feel that it is all wrong, that the people are rude and the place is dirty I find myself crashing into people and having them crash into me. Maybe 'universe' isn't the best word. but I don't think any word would really be any better. . It's kind of like: "the tao that can be spoken is not the unchanging tao the name that can be named isn't the unchanging name" thank you for your patience.
There is some theory that universes appear with different gravitational constants and speeds of light and such like and, due to these new variables, either expand of just collapse back in on themselves (less a big bang, more a damp squib) - in which case a perfect universe might be one that would achieve stability and exist forever. All we can say of ours is that it's still expanding - which makes it okay so far, but not necessarily perfect.

Why should we love the universe when it's quite clear what the universe thinks of us (see top left-hand corner of picture) http://heritage.stsci.edu/2000/06/big.html

"Why should we love the universe when it's quite clear what the universe thinks of us (see top left-hand corner of picture)" well, I didn't come into this universe to be insulted!... I'm going outside right now to give the cosmos a piece of my mind! (maybe I should change 'love the universe' to 'love everything'? though it does make Christmas shopping a living hell.
"well, I didn't come into this universe to be insulted!..." ...but according to your theory, Mr Man, yes you did! Seriously, though, I find your words most inspiring. I know what you mean (well I think I do) about "acceptance" leading to "being at one with"... Agreed, it's not easy, and knowing this equation doesn't mean one is always able to follow it, but it definitely works... Moving through life more slowly helps on the acceptance front… Even the simplest things, if accepted as being what they should be, can lead to this kind of enlightenment – I was in fact (by a startling coincidence! – or synchronicity…), just this morning, putting my key in the keyhole and thinking about how, even with such a simple act, if one is absolutely with that moment, it can feel spiritual, enlightening and as if one is totally “one” with one’s surroundings – with the universe. Next time you are putting your key in the hole (and that is meant literally and not as some kind of double entendre, by the way)… really feel it… The Tao can be found anywhere! {{{_"P"_}}} ...
