The Darkness Part Two

I woke up in complete darkness. I was lying on a bed surrounded by warm, soft blankets. I sat up quickly and I felt dizzy and lay back down until the feeling passed, I lifted my left hand to cover my face, I was so confused, I squealed in pain as I lifted my hand, and as I became aware of a sharp pain in my left wrist I also became aware of other places on my slight body that hurt.
“What happened? I should be dead...” I mumbled to myself, still feeling confused.
I lay my head back onto the pillow exhausted, I could hear what sounded like someone talking, but I didn’t care, I was too tired. I fell into an uneasy sleep, filled with dreams of what had happened in the forest.
I woke up a short while later and sat up, I didn’t feel dizzy. I looked around the room trying to make out shapes but it was impossible the darkness was very deep, I lay back wondering where I am and what’s going on. As I mused upon these things, I heard the sound of footsteps close by. I listened intently and then realised they were coming towards me, I lay back down panicked. They stopped close by and a stream of silver light entered my room. I looked towards it as someone walked in as quietly as they could, I could tell from the dark silhouette that it was male. He walked over to my bedside and looked down upon me, the light illuminating me. They shook their head and stroked my cheek gently.
“Please get better soon, so I know my efforts were worth it.” He murmured.
I shuddered as his warm fingers touched my icy cold cheek. The parts of my skin he touched burned and tingled.
“Why did I ever let you go alone?” He sounded like he hadn’t slept in a week and had half lost his voice.
He muttered some more things and then sighed. As he talked I realised I recognised his voice.
“Please wake up.” He kissed my head and reluctantly walked towards the door. As he walked away I struggled to find my voice, please don’t go!!! I was yelling with my mind unable to speak. I sobbed silently as he closed the door. I shook my head helpless. Please come back, come back I was screaming on the inside. I need answers! Where am I?! I felt around until I found a lamp, beside my bed I switched it on and sat waiting for him to come back. I spent all day trying to speak and realised that the whole left side of my body was bruised or had deep gashes. I winced whenever I moved even an inch was complete agony. I couldn’t take the waiting anymore, I had always been impatient. So I fell asleep.
He came in while I was asleep, but when he stroked my cheek I smiled and sat up. He looked at me shocked.
“Lucy? You’re awake!” He pulled me into a tight embrace. I whimpered in pain. He pulled away a little, unwilling to fully let me go. “I am so sorry!” He whispered. “This is my entire fault...”
I shook my head sharply. “No it’s not.” The words came out in barely a whisper. My throat burned as I spoke my first words in who knows how long I had been stuck in this dark room. “Don’t blame yourself!” My eyes stung as warm, salty tears welled up and spilled over. He smiled and wiped them away.
“Please don’t cry, I always hated it when you cried.”
“What happened?” I looked at him pleadingly.
“I rescued you...” His gently features turned hard and he looked away. “Let’s not talk about it now.”
I watched him and nodded. “Okay, but I would like to see what I look like, I hurt, a lot.” He laughed and fetched a full length mirror from the back of the room.
“Here.” He held it out for me as I examined my body. I looked I still looked the same just very bruised; I had a swollen hand, a few broken ribs and a cut on my cheek. I looked at my delicate features and shook my head as I remembered what had happened. I brought my hands up to eye level and shuddered.
“Blood... that’s all I can remember, blood and pain.” I closed my eyes and felt the tears spill over again, this time he just sat with me as I cried, he held me close so I wouldn’t fall apart. I cried for what felt like days, and he didn’t complain not even once. I cried until I couldn’t anymore, and then I took deep shuddering breaths.
“Are you okay?” He asked as my sobbing had subsided.
“Not really...” I muttered and buried my face into his chest. He looked down into my emerald green eyes and I looked up into his deep brown ones. “I need answers.” He stroked my soft black hair and then ran his fingers through his own brown. I watched him nervous of what he might say.”
“I am going to tell you everything.”
