Chapter 2
Micah stepped out of the shadows and watched Michael and Gabriel walk along the cold damp Manchester streets, seeking refuge.
“Hello old friends,” said Micah as he crossed the road making his way towards them, as they found shelter underneath the bus stop.
“What brings you out this fine evening?” asked Michael as he embraced Micah’s arm in a warrior’s welcome, smiling, glad to see his old friend and comrade.
“As if you didn’t already know, Michael, I hear you carry precious cargo and are in need of a safe house for the child?”
Micah was blessed with the gift of vision of foresight and divine plan, always an admiral trait in a tight situation.
“I believe you asked for a sign, Michael, so here I am,” said Micah as he held his arms out, palms open.
Micah was around 6ft tall; he had a shaved head with angelic symbols running from the top of his head down his spine. His eyes were silver and his skin was tanned. Micah wore a long black leather coat, black jeans and boots. Underneath his coat he had a wide array of weapons for killing any type of demon, angel or vampire alike.
Michael smiled “So where is this safe haven?”
Michael looked out from under the bus shelter which was being pelted down on with rain.
“Your here!” said Micah smiling showing his silver capped tooth.
“Here?” said Gabriel “You’ve got to be kidding, the child can’t survive here, she’ll freeze to death, there is no-one around to care for her!”
Gabriel looked down at the child who was beginning to stir from hunger.
“Trust me, put the child down on the seat, keep her wrapped up.” Micah looked at Gabriel then to Michael.
“It’s time!” said Micah before he disappeared.
“Mich,” ael, Gabriel began to say, She didn’t
understand why but she had a strange feeling about this child, it made her smile when she looked at her, made her want to shed a tear not for anger or pain but from joy and happiness, something Gabriel had not felt for a very long time. This child truly was a miracle and she would do anything within her power to protect this tiny life form, even give her own life.
“Do it!” said Michael in a commanding tone.
“But,” began Gabriel.
“Now, Gabriel!” said Michael, cutting her off mid sentence.
“We must trust, Micah.”
Michael stared at Gabriel and urged her to do as Micah had asked.
“We will wait over there under cover of the tree’s and make sure no harm comes to the child, should we see a demon, we shall smite it!” said Michael while taking Gabriel by the arm, and dragging her away from the tiny infant who lay on the seat of a bus stop.
Semyazza was getting tired of Asmodeus and his boastings about battles won and women whom he had scored with. Asmodeus spoke of the human race like it was an infection on the Earth, like they were nothing more but insects, something that needed eradicating at all cost.
“Only the dark Lord can claim back this world, the time is upon us brother, soon this lowest creation named man will bow down to our kind, and give us worship, I should quite like to be worshipped” rambled Asmodeus.
Just as Asmodeus stood up to recreate yet another battle, one of Semyazza’s seedline entered.
“Thank, Lucifer,” said Semyazza under his breath.
“My lord,” said the vampire while he bowed down his eyes remaining on the red marbled floor. “I have some news of tonight’s events,”
“Yes,” said Semyazza “Go ahead”.
The vampire hesitated to speak then began to stammer “My, my lo’rd, your creations have been destroyed, the child survives”.
The vampire kept his eyes on the marble floor afraid to meet Semyazza’s gaze.
“WHAT!” shouted Semyazza as he stomped across the marble floor while unsheathing his dagger. Blinded by anger and hatred, Semyazza buried the dagger into the vampire’s stomach and threw him across the room causing him to hit the wall so hard you could hear the crack.
“Forgive me my lord, but it was not I who failed you, I am but the messenger,” Cried the vampire as he scurried away from Semyazza, and his wrath.
“You let these foul creatures answer you back, Sem? I’d rip out his tongue for less and feed it back to him, but I guess that’s just me.”
Asmodeus smiled as he sat himself back down, helping himself to another drink.
“If I remove this worms tongue now he won’t be able to tell me who slain my children, and how it came to be the child survives!” growled Semyazza through gritted teeth as he grabbed the vampire by the throat and held him above the ground as if he was weightless.
“Michael,” Squirmed the vampire while gulping down its own green blood “Michael, slain them, I know not the whereabouts of the child my Lord.”
“Michael,” Growled Semyazza.
With that Semyazza clenched his fist around the vampire’s neck so tight the flesh burst and green ooze fell to the floor. Semyazza then cast the vampire into the large fireplace and watched it burn, the flames changed colour from gold and amber to green then black.
“Fucking, Michael!” growled Semyazza as he walked to stand before the fire place, resting his arm along the ledge above it.
“We shall meet again brother, soon!”
Michael and Gabriel were sat crouched by the trees and bushes facing the bus stop.
“I wish this rain would let up,” whispered Michael, “I’m getting pissed wet through.”
“Ssshhh,” said Gabriel as a bus pulled up at the stop to let a passenger off.
A young woman stepped off the bus and dropped her keys.
“Great,Lisa, just great,” sighed Lisa, as she bent down to pick her keys up from the floor, as she looked up she noticed a small pile of clothes on the bus seat. As Lisa stood the pile of clothes began to move and make gurgling noises.
“What in Heaven’s name?” whispered Lisa as she approached the small bundle.
“Oh my God!” a baby! left at a bus stop in the middle of the night! Lisa looked around, glancing to see if she could see anyone, the child’s parents, family, anyone, but there was no-one around.
“Hello, hello?” shouted Lisa, no, nobody there.
“Well I can’t just leave you here little one,” she said as she scooped up the baby. The child opened her tiny eyes and looked at Lisa; she had never before seen eyes like it. They were like tiny fires, two glowing rubies, beautiful.
“Come on let’s get you fed and changed little one.”
Lisa rocked the child as she made her way home, along the dark streets of Manchester.
“Looks like, Micah, was right after all, Michael,” said Gabriel as she made her way out from the bushes, rain dripping down from the leaves landing on her head.
“Yeah, I guess so,” replied Michael as he also made his way out from the trees, “Let’s get these wounds tended to and get some rest. I have a feeling we’re going to need it,” said Gabriel as linked Michael by the arm.
“Yeah, me too!”
