TEARS AND FEARS

A very old man, he sits in a chair
His stubble is white, so too his hair
He looks straight ahead with an unseeing stare
He fears when he passes that no one will care.
An elderly woman, her hair in a bun
Lovingly cares for her handicapped son
For all of his life it is all she has done
She dreads what will happen once her race is run.
A sweet baby boy, he crawls 'cross the floor
She is his mother, he's such a chore
Her mind's in confusion, of one thing she's sure
At the end of her tether, she can't take much more.
A middle aged man, his life's in a rut
His hair is receding, alas not his gut
He loves his wife and his family but
In an unfullfilled dungeon his dreams have been shut.
A ten year old child, he's bullied at school
It seems he has broken some unwritten rule
In his youthful world that is governed by cool
His fellows have tagged him an untrendy fool.
A teenage girl, she weeps on her bed
A Lowry like figure, she's so underfed
By glossy mag prophets she has been misled
If she's not helped soon, she may soon be dead.
This life can be a life of tears
Of failing hopes, of mounting fears
Gaze, I beg, upon your peers
That none in misery e'er disappears.
