Whispersin (11th June, 2010)
This is the voice that you cannot hear
if you’re listening to God,
isn’t that right, My dear?
These are the thoughts that good girls don’t have,
sleeping in clean, white sheets,
doing what they’re told by Mum and Dad.
But you hear me, think me, feel me,
don’t you, sweet pea?
Now you’re sitting in class
stroking scissor blades,
thinking of the fun you’d have
with the bully-girl’s face;
and soon you’re walking home
alone back from school,
saying ‘yes’ to the sweets
that he offers you;
until you’re lying on top
of your boyfriend’s bed;
he’s got puppy dog eyes
and he wants to be fed…
This is the choice that you cannot make;
If you’re hearing this, it’s already too late;
as you’re driving along,
in your best friend’s car
and you grab the wheel
…but you’ve gone too far…
This is the truth that you cannot shake;
you were searching for me…
guess what? I’m awake.
