Golden memories

The wind whistled in our ears
through an open window
for years and years
on dark highways and lonely roads
as we motored across the country
passing cars in our old cars
singing and laughing sharing fun together
you and I
forever young and forever loved
In those days it was simple
survival was a given
but when we fought,we fought
I threw a punch,you a kick
then dad had a fit,up front
so we laughed and laughed
Next came Mcdonalds ,up ahead,in the distance
the brake lights came on ,we swerved
slower and slower,we neared
we're almost there then he straightens up
punching the gas to the floor
going faster and faster, we whiz by
With an evil grin dad turns around and says
"awwww..you kids didn't wanna go there ,did you?
In 100 miles is another,so be good ...be good."
