When the Plough Became the Sword

They came in their thousands,
From lands far away.
They slaughtered our cattle,
And burned all our hay.
With bright flags of fire,
And banners of blood.
They challenged their evil,
Against all that was good.
They looted our cities,
They burned and they raped.
They stood proud before us,
With, shield sword and cape.
Our lands were lain barren,
The sky glowed crimson red.
With bare hands and tears,
We buried our dead.
The time had arrived,
To stand hard and fast.
We looked to the future,
Not forgetting our past.
Placing ourselves,
In the hands of the Lord,
We lay down the plough,
And picked up the sword.
I will always remember,
The day that we stood.
When we rose against evil,
With all that was good.
