We'd all like to say, no, skin doesn't stain,
that we never feel, a saccharine endearment,
at the sight of pretty boots, side by side ,
a loveable type of nausea.
a nauseating quality, yes we'd like,
to say that skin doesn't tarnish
and doesn't get stained by skin

we'd like to say we do not hear
faint foot steps, mouths blowing
the rustle of coats, silence talking
we'd like to think we're missed

we'd like to say we do not miss
the saccharine sight of ebony boots
neatly scattered, at our feet.
