Better to be rambling wild,
Scouted by insects and laced with webs,
Than to be prized
Snipped,
Lonesome beauties garnishing glass,
More pagan than ornate
30 barbed studs for every rose; their feral queens.
With a merciless jab,
They make fools out of tactless hands.

I like 'scouted by insects and laced by webs'. The scent of rosa rugosa - the wild red and white roses that are sometimes planted by the council, is lovely too. Elsie
