Defining You (In One Whole Night)

Sun’s morning rays, seem to highlight, your true glow

as the sheen of fallen, sleep tossed hair

proudly frames, each waking breath you take.

they confidently chase away, night’s smooth breasted shadows

while they dance fearlessly, upward, towards an elegant nape

to the beat of a quickening pulse, one I’m learning to know...

Must I define you in less than one whole day together

a time that leaves me, so breathlessly sure!

In defining you

must I only declare you far greater, than any other being, on this earth?

when you are so sublime, so beautiful, and I am so totally, lost to awe!

You smile as you sleep

as if peacefully content, with those perfect eyelashes

I need you to stay, for much longer than yesterday

Ah... such thoughts

their warm indulgence, truly tempt, every newly aching sense...

Yet now, I must leave you

before you wake, before I am unable to

a pilot’s wings since called to fly away

beyond the shores of this consciousness, without you

I pray my lover’s taste will linger, and that you will, call me back to play...

And so, I must say; that defining you

will surely take my whole life and far more

each day created to explore love’s depths, my lover’s hues

And beyond defining you

I promise I will wrap all of my love, in every mornings glow

please stay, and wait for me, I’ll be home before you know

for you, for tomorrow, forever

for the greatest love a heart could ever find

within a dream’s perfection lived, while defining you…
