The Curse of Humans

It’s easy to be against something, to hate it with a passion and a vindication. It doesn’t mean you’ll ever do anything with your passion though.
It’s easy to be against the obstruction of gay rights. Many believe it is wrong to persecute people just for their sexual orientation. However many sit by in their high school classrooms as students and teachers vilify homosexuals. They listen, quiet and disturbed, as words like faggot and dyke are spoken with malice. Although they don’t stand for these beliefs, they will do nothing to stop them.
And so is the curse of humans.
You’ve felt it. Everyone has. It’s the time you watched a documentary about orca whales and decided to never again visit Sea World. And yet you do nothing to stop it. You don’t spread the movement, you don’t share your passion, and you certainly don’t stop the killings. There are a few proud people who can say yes, I did stop it. Unfortunately these people are few are far between.
And so is the curse of humans.
We see the environment changing around us, millions of species dying a year due to our lamps, computers, cars, fridges, washing machines. The dying never stops us, though, from taking that extra hot shower when we are stressed. We hate that the rainforest is being cut down, 150 acres a minute, but we must get the new iPhone 5s, throwing the old phone away.
Don’t let this essay guilt you. Don’t even let it change you. Because remember, it is simply the curse of humans.
And who will fix it?

A sad indictment indeed. We
A sad indictment indeed. We are as a flock of impotent apathetic sheep. I can hear the bleating as I type.
