Parkinson's Players
To those people who were at the York night and were interested in how the revue I wrote, produced and directed went. It was this afternoon and I can't believe how well it went. I am so proud of all who took part. They really pulled out all the stops and the audience loved it. Derek was Rob the Gob From the Bank Job and Mike SWIFT was the Bank Security Guard who gave chase using his zimmer with wheels. Beryl was the schoolmistress in The Classroom and Evie who cannot cope with a speaking part pretended to play piano and she was magnificent. I t was a sellout performance but unfortunately my family couldn't make it because of the weather. I was presented with a beautiful flower arrangement by a lady from Parkinson's Head Office and she used to be the Regional Manager for our area. The sound and lighting people from the theatre were absolutely wonderful and very helpful to me an inexperienced producer.
Brilliant Moya! I bet it was a great afternoon. Who knows, this could be a new career path. Look out Hollywood here comes Moya Rooke....
Hello Joe,
Thank you so much for your kind words. However, if Hollywood ever beckons it will be with two fingers and I am too much of a lady to respond to that kind of rude gesture. Or am I?
Joe, my poor Lincoln may need another operation but not on his leg which is doing well. The vet is talking about removing his anal glands but I have not agreed to this. He is not in any pain and I need time to research this a bit more. I know the vet is concerned, as I am, that this might be furunculosis but he has so many tablets and we are changing his diet so I feel l have a little time to bone up on this operation as it could leave him incontinent.
Hope Chester is doing well and now the PPP is out of the way I can start to catch up on everyone.

Fantastic news Moya! I bet it was an absolute blast. Good on you.
Hello Peter,
Thankfully I think it was a blast if the feedback I and others were getting was a true representation of how it went. All the cast were so excited and pleased with the response and I was quite taken aback by everyone's comments. I have had so many phone calls and emails that I feel quite the celebrity. I have already started writing for the next production and I have quite a few monologues that have been written for some time but that I haven't yet used.

I feel thrilled for you, Moya. All that hard work and organisation and careful planning paid off. A shame your family couldn't make it. What an achievement, you're so suited to script and performance. Wish I could have seen it. Did anybody record it?
Hello Ray,
Unfortunately, no it was not recorded as it was my brother in law who was going to do it but he was part of the family that couldn't get there because of the weather. I wish you could have seen Derek dressed for The Can Can. What that man puts up with is quite amazing. The funniest thing though was one rehearsal when he was struggling to get in to his Can Can skirt. He couldn't understand why we were all laughing but like the trooper he is he carried on regardless. It wasn't until the end that we pointed out the skirt was inside out so all the frills were on the outside.
When he came on to join the ladies dancing The Can Can he got a terrific cheer but his parting shot to the audience was 'I'm too good for this place!'

well done, seems so inadequte, but well done.
Hello celticman,
To receive a 'well done' is always uplifting and I thank you for it. I fear you might regret those kind words though as you can see from the above I usually write a book in response to any comment I receive.
Thank you once again,
Moya
Fantastic news, Moya. It was always on the cards that your revue would be successful judging by your York comic and witty performance which I enjoyed tremendously. Have you given any thought about submitting comedy sketches to the BBC as highlighted by insert on another part of the forum? Here is the link again:

Best wishes, Luigi
Hello Luigi,
Thank you for your very kind and generous comment and no I hadn't thought of submitting anything I had written but I think I might just give it a shot if I haven't missed the deadline. I am loving your book by the way. I haven't got very far into it as yet because of the above but now it will be all systems go with all three of the books I came back from York with as well as doing my darndest to catch up with the people on ABC.
So glad you enjoyed my performance at York if that is what it can be called.

Moya - am thrilled for you, as is my husband, of course.
More power to you and your team, and all those who work so hard to further the advancement of awareness and research into Parkinson's Disease.
Tina
Hello Tina,
Thank you for your kind comment. I am still reeling from the response the performance got There is nothing more gratifying than hearing the audience laugh at something I have written although all credit must go to the people who were delivering the lines.
I was presented with a beautiful flower arrangement by a lady from Parkie UK's head office and she said she was going to look to see if any of the other branches had anything like our drama group as she thought it was great but one of my friends said you can't have her she's ours which I thought was lovely.
I hope your husband is not having too many bad days. I am still hoping my consultant will let me go back on Stalevo as I was doing so much better with them although I know they didn't suit your husband.

Moya, I'd love to see it so if it was recorded, pop a link up or tell us the name and I'll look at up. Sounds absolutely amazing. Well done!
Hello Blighters,
Unfortunately, it didn't get recorded as although I had everything in place for it to be done my Brother in Law who was going to go up in the gallery to film it never made it to the performance because of the weather. However as we didn't manage to get any photographs either I am trying to arrange a photo shoot next week of the cast in their costumes. If I can work out how to do it I will try to post a photo on here.
If we ever put on another performance at the theatre then I will move heaven and earth to get it recorded mainly for the group but also for publicity and to raise awareness which I have tried to do on here during Parkinson's Awareness Week.

Moya, well done! Your material is great, I wish I had been there Elsie
Hello Elsie,
I wish you had been there too, now, but I was so afraid of how it would go I didn't even invite my sister because I had so many sound effects that I felt the potential for things to go wrong was enormous. It was only after my sister said she was hoping for an invite that I said okay and as it turned out I need not have worried.

Oh Moya! tell me the world is going to end we're all going to die, I say Oh well.... Tell me a dog is unwell and I go into meltdown! Poor Lincoln.
I don't know much about the condition but do whatever you think is best for the boy.
Chester is fine and we are taking him away for the weekend to Norfolk. He can run on the beach and behave as stupid as he wants to. Which is normally really stupid!
Thanks for sharing this Moya, sorry to have missed the York event, hope to travel down for a future one
