Let Down Your Guard

Guarded letters guarding hearts,
Saving face in wordy vaults.
Hiding life in secret parts
Braving not to bear our faults
Guards his words like playing cards,
Close to chest as they could be
Two aces or a draw that's hard,
They're just for him to see.
Guarded punctuation marks
In fear they could be wrong,
Barter with those naked scars
"How much to make you gone?"
Hold on!
Guarded letters? Fuck the fear
I'll take a sucker punch.
All that guarantees your snears
Is not to take the plunge.
Guarded letters locked in dark,
The loss not worth the save.
Best for you to bear your heart
Just see what others say.

Hi Pretender,
Hi Pretender,
This is a strong piece and a bold response to the inspiration point. Love the volta (Hold on!) and the rounded picture this makes. A warm welcome to ABC!
