Spiraling Love

Periphery of love
fabricated design
two hearts dressed
in ritual garb
veiled words
token promises
the manifest deed
glossed pulp
artfully signed
by finger, pen
delible ink,
ritual blood
domicile groomed
dapper frills
manicured lawn
fertile pathway
leading to
whitewashed panels
standard planks
covered by
surreal cloak
paring
earthy tone
satin finish
gilding sun beams
sparkle on the template
fringed with ivy
fealty's moniker
as they dance through
the door hinged with dreams
carried over the threshold
into domesticated bliss

Homespun malaise
two passing shadows
mirroring mentors
matching rings
baring titular fonts
hiding duplicitous minds
walking through narrow
corridors peering through
the glass walls
at unseemly habits
idiosyncrasies
digging into
closets of worn clothes
sheltered secrets
as two leased hearts
share life's cares
bordered by boredom
unchecked rhythms of life
routines, schedules
steady bills,
unvarnished love
token kisses, quick hugs
until thread-bare shield
of stained pin pricks
coagulated, dried
blood on stale skin
their signatures
on dated parchment
fading ink blots
covering the pretense
of endeared terms
duplicates on
counterfeit carbon
rushing back over
the threshold
passing through the
door of surreal dreams
peeling the glossed shades
hiring secular brokers
to rend the seal
that solemnly binds
their hearts and home

I saw my entire courtship and marriage pass before my eyes when I read this. What a wonderful poem. It should have been Cherry Picked.
