Going Round in Circles

You buzzed back in - didn't notice how,
then feeling trapped,
you started a row.
Your anger vibrated against the glass
in repeated attempts to escape -
you banged your head, frustrated
as hell when you couldn't find a way
to make a break.
I wanted to let you go, even opened
the door and stood back,
but in your anger you started to stagger
round the room hitting things
in the heat of the moment, wanted to stop,
but didn't know how to back-track.
And me, I felt sorry for you, guess that was
maddening, too, but you had to go,
so in the end, as a defense
against your irrational capers, I rolled up
the divorce papers, brought them down
in anger, and with those final words,
I finally managed to squash you.

I think someone must have
I think someone must have been glad I asked the question! This reminds me of the first poem of yours i read I think, which turned out to be about a flea – it does help when you know! Rhiannon
