When I was young, I lost a lot.

I lost my glasses. I lost my homework. I lost my books.

I lost my mom.

I have lived my life at a distance. Plauged by fear of failing and feeling hurt, I have built walls. I have climbed into my own tower and have waited for a prince to find me without being willing to throw down my hair. I have been amid action and still felt insulated from the effects. I have lot my place in the world.

I have wanted to be open, to let my soul see the light. I have wanted to drag out the darkest parts of myself, the things I have hidden away. I wanted to be more.

Because of you.

I couldn't

I couldn't tell you what I should have. I couldn't let go of my fear

I couldn't let myself fall for someone who told me they were leaving

I couldn't risk the loss.

I have made mistakes. I haven't thought things through. The most important thing I can do is ask for forgiveness.
