Snakes may fool the tender heart
but cold hearts let you in,
venomous toad;
squatting upon power;
hate and fear let you in,
leaping from the ballot box,
sliming in through the colleges
so you could belch your poisonous words;
so you could sicken the body of Liberty
but your poison need not be fatal
if there are still those who care;
the power of tender hearts to heal;
the antidote of love.
(A comment upon Donald Trump's misappropriation of Al Wilsons song "The Snake")
