2 Encounter
(The story so far)
Adam Kesteven was lost on the road after his car broke down. He found a large house in the vicinity and called there. There he came across some odd characters, including Mrs. Miller and Nurse Harrington. He also met Duncan who came out as a gay man to him. But Adam declined his advances and woke up the next morning and went into breakfast. Duncan explained to Adam they take vitamin tablets as part of experiments conducted there but Adam became suspicious after learning Duncan was gay.
The next morning Adam awoke ready for breakfast. He was hungry after a good night’s sleep. He met Duncan and Stuart on the stairs, and the three of them entered the dining room. Mrs. Miller then engaged Duncan in conversation but what was said remained a mystery. A large teapot was placed on the table, and Adam quaffed at least three cups of tea, but the drugs had been put into the milk jug and Duncan did not take milk in his tea, a fact quite overlooked by poor Adam.
Meanwhile Amy was missing Adam’s calls. She expected him to ring to tell her about the viewing, and she wanted a report on 6, Partridge Close. She decided to go to his house but noticed there was no car parked on the drive, and his house was empty. Alarm bells started to ring and she thought that maybe that unreliable car had either crashed or broken down. She decided to go out onto the road to the Ashdown quarry and see if she could find anything out. A couple of miles down the road she spotted Adam’s car. It was deserted, and she thought to herself, where on earth is Adam?
Not too far away was a big mansion, Shaston House, so she wondered if Adam had gone there to ask for help. She motored up its long drive and presented herself at the door. Soon the door was opened. It was Mrs. Miller.
“ Oh hello” said Amy, “I am enquiring after my boyfriend Adam Kesteven. I wondered if he called here when his car broke down. I have seen it on the road a mile back.”
“No, I’m afraid not. Nobody has called here.”
“ Oh, I see. Are you sure?”
“Of course, I’ve been here all the time. No one has called.”
“Sorry to have bothered you.”
Mrs. Miller closed the door slowly and retreated within the home of the Eagle Ensigns. Amy looked at the sign outside the house. Who on earth are the Eagle Ensigns? I don’t like the look of it, and that woman with the pasty face and big features, she gave me the creeps. Amy left the grounds of Shaston House crestfallen and full of questions. The next thing she must do is call the AA to get the car removed.
Mrs. Miller approached Duncan, “ Someone came to enquire after that Adam.”
“I think I can get him complicit with us tonight so he wants to stay; just give me a bit of time.”
“Alright, but make it snappy, we can’t deny he’s here forever. Oh, and can you get the tow truck out and put his car in one of our garages, it’s evidence.”
“Of course, I’ll go now, Adam is looking at one of our videos in the TV room. I doubt he’ll miss me.”
“Good, get on with it.”
“This is the AA, Miss Brown, there was no car on the road to Ashdown quarry. We’ve been out there all afternoon looking.”
“But I saw it, I know it’s there.”
“I’m sorry we’ve made a thorough search. If it ever was there, it’s gone now. Some garage must have towed it away.”
Amy Brown was worried. What was going on and where was Adam? She was convinced those Eagle Ensigns were hiding something. They sounded like a cult, hidden away in the countryside, in a huge mansion. She looked on the internet and found a paragraph of information on them. It said they were an eco-friendly group of warriors fighting to make the planet green. One thing is for sure, thought Amy, I can’t go there again, they will be suspicious, and will only deny ever seeing Adam. He couldn’t have gone anywhere else on a dark night, no other habitations were in the vicinity. I must get one of my friends to go there, someone interested in green things, or at least saying she is, see if she can gain entrance. I’ll give her a photo of Adam and she can see if he is there after all.
Amy rang her old friend Shirley, and explained everything to her.
“I’m always up for a challenge, you know me, Amy.”
“Yes, Shirley, I thought you would be ideal. I want you to take your mobile and ring me at certain pre-arranged times so I know you are still alright.”
“That will be fine, Amy, I’ll get there tomorrow, say I am interested in joining their group. They are bound to let me in.”
“I think so, Shirley, if it is a cult they will be eager to get new members.”
The next day Shirley drove her little car out to Shaston House. She rang the bell and someone opened the door. It was Mrs. Miller again.
“Oh hello, I believe you are the Eagle Ensigns, the green eco warriors, I am interested in joining the group.”
“Oh won’t you come in?” said Mrs. Miller, in an overweening and obsequious manner.
“We have a video you can watch and you can meet the others. We are just going into lunch, you can join us.”
At this point Nurse Harrington was walking past in her nurse’s uniform, and Shirley was immediately perturbed.
“Why do you have a nurse here?” said Shirley to Mrs. Miller.
“Oh, we conduct certain experiments, eco experiments. Nothing to worry about.”
In the dining room, which was full, lots of people were seated awaiting their lunch. It was then Shirley spotted Adam with someone. Who was he with and what was going on? The previous night a lot had been going on. Duncan went to Adam’s room and began his seduction. Adam, who had had the heterosexuality termination pill, was a lot more conducive to the idea of gay sex than he had been the previous night. Duncan, showing his bare chest, eased Adam into the gay world. It was to be a beano of gay sex.
“Just let yourself go, Adam”, said Duncan, “it is alright, it’s the modern way.”
And with that dropped his pants and revealed his admirable trophy. They slipped into the bed together and Duncan began Adam’s transformation. Adam had forgotten Amy and his intentions towards her; the complicity pills made him open to new ventures, new enterprises, off with the old and on with the new. Adam was becoming an Eagle Ensign.
Now as he sat at table with Duncan, he barely noticed the newcomer Shirley, and he certainly did not know who she was or why she was there. She had come to save him.
“Do you have a mobile?” someone asked Shirley.
Shirley thought on her feet and said ‘No, I don’t”, realising it may well be a trick to get it off her.
These people were queer, best be very guarded in one’s demeanour. Ida Jennings had been assigned Shirley to take her under her wing.
“It’s just we don’t allow mobiles,” said Ida, “in fact we don’t approve of anything not invented before 1945.”
“Oh,” said Shirley, “why is that?”
“We don’t consider the new technology green,” said Ida. “Have you met Nurse Harrington? She gives out the tablets for our experiments.”
“I’ve seen her in the corridor,” said Shirley.
“I hope you’ll take part,” said Ida.
“Oh, of course,” said Shirley, knowing full well she would only be pretending to take the tablets and actually flushing them down the toilet.
“You know Mrs. Miller,” said Ida, “she’s not a Mrs. at all, in fact she’s a lesbian like me. Are you one, Shirley?”
Again Shirley knew she must lie to get on with these people.
“Oh yes, I am.”
“You can buddy up with me, Shirley. We are all gay here. See those two over there, Duncan and Adam, Adam’s just come and Duncan has paired up with him almost immediately. We believe in good times, believe me, Shirley, believe me.”
Ida knew or thought she knew Shirley was going to be easy, she didn’t need subterfugal drugs in the milk. She would get all she needed from Nurse Harrington on the faux eco experiment programme.
Shirley immediately realized that if you weren’t already gay they were turning you into one. Adam was certainly heterosexual and now he was very friendly with this Duncan Barrett. What was going on with these people? Shirley knew she must do whatever was suggested or she would be lost. After lunch Ida suggested Shirley take a look around Shaston House. Ida and Shirley reached the end of one corridor and came to double doors.
“What’s beyond there?” asked Shirley.
“Oh, you’ll find out later. It’s the east wing, people work in there”, and then they came to another locked door. “That’s the chapel,” said Ida, “it’s kept locked for security.”
Shirley wondered what was really in there. This place was full of mystery, and Shirley was becoming increasingly uncomfortable. She had already decided she didn’t like the look of any of them, particularly Mrs. Miller and Nurse Harrington. Ida Jennings seemed nice enough, but wasn’t this just a sweetener to get Shirley hooked into something much more sinister? That night Shirley was biting her lip while Ida Jennings made lusty love to her.

shouldn't it be the other way around? That Duncan is trying to drug Adam?
