Sensing something

different I did turn

and saw within my gaze

a most magnificent creature

a black wolf of 150 lbs

not ten feet away.

 

Surveying me

with intense eyes

nary a growl

in spite of my .270 rifle

and I was a crack

shot too.

 

We stood – man and

wolf

until satisfied

I had no intent for harm

and he slowly

sauntered away.

Amazing encounter.

Hi Philip, I was hunting for deer at the time and was miles into the woods on an old logging road. When I turned around I realized immediately the wolf, a huge one, meant me no harm. He stared at me for about five minutes and all the time I avoided looking into his eyes to show no confrontation, and I showed no fear which kept the situation calm..
