It could be worse

It could be worse
It could have been a spattering of nukes
just a few would settle winter on us like Jadis in her sled of ice
chasing Narnias talking beasts
But its hard to know whether this endless loneliness
Is a hot hell or a cold one
In my teens desperation gave me 3 paracetamol and wandering at night
hoping for an alien abduction
Part of me wants to inhale when passing a crowd
screaming "come and get me virus" lets dance
Early morning tears are dissolved by a plan for the day
get up and shower, have breakfast, do stretches, walk dog, tidy house, plan menu
In the afternoon the can't swallow
and tight muscle
belly pain
of no human touch
is chased by singing loudly
At least back then when you died
widowhood
didnt mean solitary forever
but it does now
I'm on Mars and there is no way back
I'v buried the others in Cydonia
in the Martian dust

Sounds delicious. Yes, important to self-care. I plan to be in the garden later. And you have reminded me to get some onions when I go shopping next as I think French onion soup is a good idea. :)

The poem sums up what a lot
The poem sums up what a lot of us are feeling at the moment, I think. And the added bonus of a recipe! I'm not usually a soup maker, but I think I may have a go at that one.
