House Ghost

The sky waits for me,
Yet still I hold on
To where I no longer belong,
Dressed in the wrong clothes,
Out staying my welcome,
A passing chill to a stranger,
Who might look but cannot see,
And so I gave up trying,
The mourning fog thickens,
Floor boards float beneath my feet,
Furniture vanishes at my touch,
No one notices my absence,
Except me.

I enjoyed this.
I enjoyed this.
The Haunting, the Robert Wise one, is a film I love dearly. And a great book too, of course.

Oh yes, Bly Manor is The Turn
Oh yes, Bly Manor is The Turn of the Screw. It was also made into a film classic: The Innocents.
I'll watch Bly Manor at some point. The first series, The Haunting of Hill House, was based on Shirley Jackson book and was also adapted as the Robert Wise film I mentioned. I only watched that series recently and I really enjoyed it.

Atmospheric
eerie, too. I love the idea of a mourning fog and what it might be mourning.

I really enjoyed this - and
I really enjoyed this - and many happy returns! I'm also a big fan of Shirley Jackson, and the Robert Wise film Sean mentioned - it absolutely terrified me when I first saw it! Would really recommend Shirley Jackson's work, only not late at night... My daughter is a big fan of the Hill House TV series and keeps telling me to watch it, but I live on my own, and I'm a wimp these days.
