A JAWS Short Story for @theDailyJaws #NaNoWriMo challenge 2020
(This very short one was a very quick afterthought following a dream I had and may in itself be controversial but I enjoyed writing it all the same!)
Picture is of 'Scrappy Doo' on a beach on Anglesey, North Wales

Wow!
What an amazing place!
I’ve been here lots of times of course. I remember now. It’s not always this busy though.
Can’t remember when it was this busy. Lots of people today, it’s crazy.
Noisy.
Lot’s of kids, lots of smells. Lovely warm day too.
Everyone sounds happy anyway.
Lots of running around and splashing. Not a care in the world.
Here we go again!
Running into the water past all these people.
Such excitement.
I love to hear laughter.
I love the water. Nice and warm this time of the year.
Great to get out. I’d love to explore more than I’m allowed.
Wait!
There’s a strange feeling.
I heard a scream.
The silence is deafening too.
I can smell fear suddenly from somewhere.
Then someone stands up in the shallows.
“Shark!”
Someone shouted it again.
Then there is panic and out of the blue everyone is running, well as best they can anyway.
I can smell blood and fear all at once.
It’s not pretty.
Some people have fallen over while others trample them.
Right, I’m out of here!
Run
Run away from this, from everyone really.
Glad to be out of there to be honest. Much safer up here on this dune.
Actually. What if I just went exploring and didn’t go back today. That would be an adventure. The houses are just over there.
Wait! I can hear my name being called.
“Pippet! Pippet! …Pippet! …Pippet!”
Maybe I should go back? NO, Forget it! Too fucking scary! I’m outta here!

It's got a flash fiction feel
It's got a flash fiction feel to it. Something I would like to try again after a recent attempt.

I had misgivings when I saw
I had misgivings when I saw the picture of the dog, so I'm glad we didn't have a massacre on our hands! I admire anyone who can do flash fiction, because I find cutting things down so difficult.
With my editor's hat on, I've changed the rating to a '12' rather than a 'PG' simply because of the last line. Also, if you could indicate if the photo is your own or, if not, that it's either copyright free or you've got the relevant permissions. It's a bit of a pain, I know, but we can't afford to get sued! Many thanks.
