stuff of life by Marcia Marcia
from earth’s mantle churning
molten stellar dust
in mineral fissure folds
move fire hot liquid
upward thrust in
tremor rich and layered
shale
reveal earth’s geode
nature-mined
trapped within glittered gem vine
all arise in pressured push
piercing earth’s crust
in mounting climb
turns mountainous mass
enduring eon’s time
then peaks and pierces clouded sky
that open wide its water’s rain
drenching earth’s tumultuous flame
till in air’s silenced hush of
dawn
a living breathing planet born.

Journey to the Center of the Earth
Journey to the Center of the Earth was a classic adventure scifi novel by Jules Verne. Brilliant but of course very far-fetched. Must be. The rather recent film in a modern setting I enjoyed a lot also, excellent. I find his story to be strangely plausible.
In a Popular Mechanics magazine of the other day there was a article on the shifting of the magnetic North Pole and it concludes with a scientist “ It would be great if we could somehow invent a device to go visit the Earth's core, to have a look at what these lobes of molten iron are doing and see how they are interacting with the magnetic field”.
All the best Marcia! Tom Brown
