We're in this together... Ha!

Sometimes having just enough is plenty
Especially when your pockets have been empty.
In fact thats pretty much how you’ll learn
By walking the streets a lonely turn.
Banks full of money are not the position
To learn about the social condition
That erudite refer to as adversity
But sufferers call their reality.
Rolling around in piles of dosh
Just widens the gap and gets you called posh.
No it Isn’t quite the preparation
for learning the rules of deprivation.
Its a lonely place of sad despair
Sometimes your fighting just for air.
When the only thing in your pocket is fluff
There and then you’ve had enough.
So don’t tell me with all your patronising smuggery.
From your posh schools where you learnt… to be different.
As if you're discussing the weather,
“Its all ok cause we’re in this together.”

Mind the gap!
Excellent words Mentalelf. People are recognising and talking about that gap more and more each day.
And also...
So don’t tell me with all your patronising smuggery.
From your posh schools where you learnt… to be different.
made me do a big LOL.

"When the only thing in your pocket is fluff There and then you’ve had enough". More good lines in this poem; and I'm trying to recall who was it who came out with that crap about being in it together. A good one Phil - keep going!
