Strange Creatures

In this week's Big Issue I found the following story:

A shocked insect specialist who was confronted with two black beady eyes in the mouth of the red snapper fish he was about to cook had come face to face with a tongue-eating ipsopod - the only parasite that eats and replaces an organ of its host. The Californian crustacean, found by Dr Jim Brock, enters a fish's gills, and when its host's tongue shrivels to a stub, the fully grown louse acts as a replacement tongue, with its head facing out of the mouth. It will now be exhibited at the Horniman Museum in south London.

Maybe he should've just deep fried the fish, killed the parasite and had a good scoff. (to continue the oh so thinly veiled allegory). But instead he left the fish on the side and let the parasite devour the flesh and the whole house went hungry.

Ipsopod released. Apple has unveiled a gadget that combines its hugely popular iPod music player with a fish's tongue Announced by Apple boss Steve Jobs, the device will be able to store about 100 songs and play them out randomly like the iPod Shuffle. Developed by Motorola for Apple, the gadget, dubbed the "ipso facto pod" (and thereby hangs a tail) will first be available to sea-going fish on America's west coast. The device is not to be confused with the iPod nano launched last week and which plays just 0.000 000 001 seconds of music Since it was introduced in 2001, Apple has sold more than 21 million iPods. My x-wife had her tongue surgically replaced with an apple I-fork. Shaped roughly like a tuning fork, and requiring nothing more than spit for power, it functions in several capacities, most notably in it's ability to sing 3 different tunes at once whilst poking your eyes out. It's not a bug...it's a feature.

eek apparently you can catch them by kissing girls and they make you say evil lies such as "cricket is boring" (which we all now know to be untrue)
