Mr Moon

Mr Moon he saw me play
he saw me sing
he saw me pray
he told the stars that I'd been good
he told them so they understood
Then they whispered to the sun
which made him smile
to see such fun
and he in turn spoke to the sea
and said to keep an eye on me
The sea then had a word with sky
to keep me safe
not let me cry
especially when I'm fast asleep
and safely counting lots of sheep
The sky then spoke to old St Nick
and told him how
if he was quick
he could make my dreams appear
and bring me lots of joy and cheer
They told St. Nick that I'd been good
he said he'd do
the best he could
and all the other children too
will realise when once they knew
So when at last it's Christmas day
the bells ring out
the children play
then Mr Moon, the stars and sun
can look to see what they have done
Sea and sky both knew it too
they saw it clear
they had a view
The secret which was told to me
If I remember, let me see
Children must be kind and good
and do their best
and so they should
'cause if they fail the moon will know
and tell it to the wind and snow
Old St Nick will soon find out
he'll give a cry
he'll give a shout
And all the presents in his sack
will be a waste he'll put them back
So when it's time for you to bed
the light is out
the book is read
close your eyes and count to ten
tomorrow you'll be good again.
