Post impressions

I woke up this morning with the impression of my mobile phone
clearly visible in the flesh of my left breast. I slept with it pressed
against me in case you needed me.
Why didn't you ring? Have you forgotten my number already?
I lie awake until the early hours each night under the misguided
impression that you'll walk through the door like you used to.
The house is still the same, did it lose its welcome?
The impression of your body is long gone from our bed. The pillows
lingering with your smell have been changed.
I can cocoon in the duvet if I want to but without you pressed against
me it's just a bed, just a place to sleep.
The dog is under the impression that she'll never get a decent walk
again. I'm ashamed to leave the house for fear of wilting under the
spray of malicious gossip.
Remember those long walks on the beach with the dog? Remember the
secluded cove?
My son has a new impression of you, he thinks you're a bad man because
you smothered us in lies. You said you'd never hurt us.
We did his homework without you today, he got impatient with me you are
better at maths.
You made a lasting impression.
I think your new role suits you.
You play the part of dick head well.
I'm impressed.
