This box
for which I have no key
gets in the way:
I cover it
wit pretty cloth,
sit on it, but
otherwise
it has no use
I can see.

I read of the content
of other people's,
long to know
what's in mine?

Once someone triied
to force the lock -
I bit him hard
till he stopped, but worry
he might have blocked
the right key
from moving.

Recently, a locksmith came,
with sensitive touch
who knew so much,
but he gave up.

Now this chest is battered, worn
every day.
I can't imagine anyone
would care
to know what it contains.
I hope I don't, soon,
then I won't miss
whatever it is.
