Not One of Us

The same scene over and over. Sometimes I am rehearsing, sometimes
watching, sometimes acting, muscled about by the other players if I
forget a cue.
He takes what is referred to as a ticket - a large, square, silver and
black film cartridge - from a snotty underling who is peeved at this
duty being awarded to someone he considers below his own station. He
takes the cartridge undaunted, under the stare of the underling, and
carries it through mesh-floored corridors, his boots clanking, to the
leader, the captain of the spacecraft.
The captain is watching over the controls of the ship - a column about
four feet tall, alternate rings of white and yellow glowing within it.
The captain is also dressed in white and yellow, including a white and
yellow helmet.
He has no humour. He demands fear rather than respect. He is a wanker.
You can just tell. And this man, handing over the cartridge, realises
he is out of place here; that if there was a revolution, he would be
part of it. Perhaps he already is, as he takes what is referred to as a
ticket - a large, square, silver and black film cartridge - from a
snotty underling who is peeved ...
