I Fear The March of Time

Age has constantly stalked me,
And throughout my life it has nudged me,
Telling me of a clock that was ticking towards a terminal time.
I still recall those balmy summer days that had no ending.
I played as a child, with thoughts almost immortal
And a future that seemed feint, far away.
Yet I struck twenty and my life-clock began ticking louder,
Chiming a path to my grave.
Each timeless childhood memory was hastened by time
And the pace ever quickened
Bringing the grim reaper's chime.
On the wings of freedom I soared
By making a new world for where I would be fee,
But all I accomplished was bondage
And a millstone mortgage tagged just for me.
