caught like a black and white photograph of a memory:
Forever stilled; parched and gone.
The dunes are forever caught
in the calmest moment of the wave;
before the foaming crash on the shore
and they seem to send up more heat
and light than they receive. Our feet are hotter
than the tops of our bare heads and shoulders.
We walk on,
looking for the wave that breaks&;#8230;.
