To The Terror Born
By Mark Cantrell
The bombs explode
And destroy human life.
As the dust settles,
A boy struggles upright.
All around him,
As he looks,
He sees the gore and offal
That was once
His loving family.
Filled with grief,
He spills the first tears
And wonders
Why
He alone still lives.
Was it chance
Or Allah that spared
His young life?
Now he turns West,
And feels
The anger and hate
Rise on the back of his grief.
With a determined look,
He shakes his fist
And vows revenge
On those safe and secure
Who willed his mother's death.
How many more like him
Will yet be born
In the fires
Of Western bombs?
