God Is Like Paul Daniels
(Now there's a horrible thought)
By Mark Cantrell
Get out of my light, God,
You're spoiling my view.
Go sit in the corner,
Suck your thumb if you must.
You're just a show off
And a smart arse,
With a terrible sense of style.
Your tricks
Are just sleight of hand
To dazzle the minds of fools.
You're a charlatan and fraud,
With your silly little games.
You crack a little miracle
And expect a fawning
Round of applause.
It's no mean trick
To do these things.
It's par the course
In the old God biz.
You're like Paul Daniels,
Sad and way too old.
And your party tricks
Have become like you.
So go away now
And make yourself useful.
Tidy up my room,
And wash my socks.
Bring me a coffee
And cook my tea.
Then leave me alone,
To enjoy the show.
The real miracle on display
Is nature's beautiful bounty.
All of it made,
Without any of you.
