A letter

Dear Mama,
I dreamed I came to heaven to visit for a while. That's what I wanted
for Mother's Day-
that and see you smile.
You see, it's the first Mother's Day that I can recall, that I
couldn't come by and see you, 'cause you're not here at all.
I remember last year I wore a rose of red to honor you, but to pin one
of white on my dress this year was the hardest thing I could do. And
I'd always write you a poem, a different one each year. But this time I
almost couldn't, because you are not here. So I did my best, like every
year, and wrote what was in my heart. I wanted to say "Happy Mother's
Day", even though we're now apart.
But I'm glad I got to see you, If only as I rest, but one Mother's
Day, I'm coming to stay, and that one will be the best.
