Above It All

Life has never handed you a basket filled with peace.
Instead, you've fought much hardship which
seemed to never cease.
But, ahead of time, God saw your pain,
and thus equipped you well
with guts of iron and nerves of steel,
more than most could tell.
You rose above the outlook of those who
thought you'd fail, and rode upon
the wings of hope when opposition railed.
You set your stride to overcome when life
would knock you down,
determining to gain a prize,
which now, I think you've found.
Now you can say "I did it! I rose above it all.
I came, I saw, I conquered, when others said I'd fall."
You don't know the pride I feel to see you stand so tall;
Because I always knew that you would fly-
and rise
above it all.
