I thought I saw you

I thought I saw you last night,
Walking briskly through Paddington Station.
I thought I saw you,
Your hair brushed by an unknown breeze,
A secret smile, lingered at the corners or your mouth,
Happy for once.
I tried to catch you, to speak, to say ... "Hello?",
But you were too far away.
My mind raced with the years,
And I realised,
You still overwhelmed me,
Even now.
As you vanished into the crowd
I felt that old familiar empty ache,
I guess some things can't be cured.
I thought I saw you
Standing in a queue,
Buying a burger and coke.
But I was wrong.
Just another girl with your eyes,
With your smile,
Another ghost to haunt me.
I thought I saw you,
But you were long dead,
Resting
In a quiet grave
That I have never seen.
