had my car in for an m.o.t
tyres in dangerous condition
they said
this after a week-end
in the country
speeding along
hedge-lined country roads

could have been curtains
and what would have
been said
at my wake

maybe i need a
m.o.t
probably need some
work on the body

wander sometimes
if i would pass
regular inspection
all that prodding
pushing and testing
might give me one of
my funny turns

and i would need
a nice cup of
tea to
calm down

but there is still

me fighting to be heard

in pubs

and also in
