Z - Sunshine

Sunshine
Sunshine walks the lawn in her long, golden robes,
Dragging them across the grass, lazily, slow,
Feet silent as cobwebs whispering in the breeze,
Delicate, stealing, so as not to wake the spiders,
Trailing along with her gold, liquid ease
While high below her, the clouds race, whipped by their riders,
Shadows fall, spilling from her fingers, darkening the walls,
Blue velvet darkness, soft and lengthening, they linger
And grow cold, tracing my arm with their creeping chill,
Stretching and reaching, over my skin they spill,
As Sunshine walks by me, hand in hand now with Evening,
Watching Afternoon die, touching sadness inside me,
At the end of the day, the flowers are the mourners,
Bowing their heads, closing their eyes, they pray
Hoping Sunshine won't scorn them, that with Tomorrow she'll play.
