Have you ever seen a dream...

Did you ever see a dream walking?
Well I did.

Her name was Susanne, and I met her on this beautiful beach in some nondescript place. She was just laying there on the sand, naked as a dream, every part of her pointing towards the sun except for her eyes:

Her eyes, they were fixed upon mine.

Yeah, the very first time I met Susanne, she looked at me and smiled.
She held out her hand to me, and I fell into it.

Well I did.

Susanne told me all about the sand, and the sun, and why the ocean was exactly the way it was¦ and why it was that I had come to meet her on that beautiful beach in that nondescript place ' and why it was that I could never leave.

The next night when I fell asleep, I searched long and hard for Susanne on that beautiful beach in that nondescript place, but the beach was empty. Just a single piece of paper, glowing white-hot in the sun:

A love letter I'd written to her that doubled as a suicide note.
A pledge of devotion to Susanne, Queen of Sleep, which could never be undone.

Have you ever felt a dream dying?
Well I have.

Did you ever have a wonderful dream,
Only to wake up and realise that it wasn't real?
