Clear Night

Holes poked in blue satin
needlepoints
of shimmering silk
twinkle embroidered
on a great cushion
plump and cool
to lean on stargazy
If I lie on it
will you show me the pattern
the warp and weft of it
Orion in tapestry
chased by bears
there might be a comet
a portent a sign
but we would reach slowly
to protect the design
