Little Molls
Little Moll riding hoods rushed about the yard
got their boots and hats on, tossed their hair
mounted up, sat up straight, held the reins and their nerve
bounced as they sat to trot ,Thelwellian
except the two that could rise, and did
gleaming with the pleasure of knowing how
tea had cake and crisps, crustless marmite
jelly dug out with giggling spoons
then it was Barbies and their horses
groomed for a show and kindly judged
their riders decked in pink high heels
and higher hair
then a song from school sung con brio
about Hamelins excessive rats
but they chorused in 'boys' instead
reading an invisible page
"there were boys in the sewers
boys in my hair
boys in the bed ,boys on the chair"
you could almost hear their tankards
make a rowdy unpink bang
as they wiped mouths on sleeves and talked piracy
