“Love is cold,
More cold than Death,”
Said Morrisey to Marr.
And with these words
He left the Smiths
To move to California.
“It’s sunny there,
You understand,
Besides, you’ll find another band.
I’m fed up with the Lowry-esque
A Hockney turn is for the best.
“Pool boys, Cadillacs, the beach,
I’ll gorge on sex,
on cars and meat!
Wad’ya reckon? Wanna come?
We’re all so wan,
We’d use the sun.”
“Morrisey, you’ve lost the plot,
That’s everything the Smiths is not!
Where’s your pride, your self-respect?
Don’t we exist to introspect?”
“Death is cold, Marr,
Love yet colder;
LA swelters,” his retort
“Far from cheap, they tell me though,
I’ll see you boys in court.”
