Receiving the Sound of Silence

Under the shade of grey morning light
I sit and watch you breathing.
I wonder, do you think of me,
While far away and dreaming?
The things you whispered, soft and sweet,
The twilight hours receding
Drew in the day; thought slipped away
Beyond the midst of feeling.
We intertwined, soft lips to skin
Love, velvet-red, unfurled,
You held me in your warm embrace
And with a smile upon your face
You opened up new worlds.
And I am yours, and you are mine;
Soft, muted by the snow,
A church bell chimes from far away.
Have lovers ever loved this way?
You tell me you don't know.
Now the sound of silence I receive
Is absolute, unbreakable,
While in my mind resounds the truth
Permanent, unshakeable.
Love is the truth, so bright and clear
It's everywhere you turn,
Although life seems to extinguish dreams
And nothing is just what it seems
You'll find hope, when you learn.
