She only irons for herself
her blouses don't crease
her skirts never crumple
but still she presses them
with a hot iron
to the sound of background television.
The dishes never need washing
she eats takeaways
and sandwiches in the garden
crumbs gathering on the grass
for the birds to eat
the bedsheets never need changing
the duvet is always made
standing by her bookcase
she folds her arms
waits for dust to gather.
