Being Single

BEING SINGLE
The night air is getting heavy
Dogs are barking at the cars
Summer sun has dropped from view
Now the moon shines with all the stars.
I kiss you twice and make you smile
Our hands touch and intermingle
Fingers gently on fingertips
Clamp the feeling, being single.
A distant fly buzzes manically
A raindrop hits the open panes
A storm is brewing in the distance
Muggy air is what remains.
I bury my nose into your nape
And breathe amongst your brunette hair
Snuggling clean and so serene
You giggle and moan softly there.
We make love as the dogs still bark
Sweat and dark and rain that falls
Like wild beasts on a mountain peak
We share the joy and shout our calls.
Until the moon falls like a stone
And sun enters the open pane
I gasp and kiss your wanton mouth
I know that being single I can’t remain.
