I sit and think of days gone by,
of seas and sands
and distant lands
and feelings fill my heart...
As life drifts by
I wonder why
we are here...
Is there a reason?
Is there hope?
Is there love out there?
For you?
For me?
Are we ever willing to accept
that as the time ticks,
the clock clicks
shut;
The fear inside us will one day release itself
and find a heart
to attach to ,
to cling to ,
to watch ,
to learn
to hope for and to grow...
In the end we are but specks of dust
in the universe that surrounds us...
Small,
insignificant,
hearts that beat...
nothing more ,
nothing less;
Souls that fly
as the world draws it's last airless breath.

Extremely evocative, Firebird; the varied line lengths giving it added depth and meaning. Like this a lot;-)

'As life drifts by I wonder why we are here'. Thought provoking. Your writing has an incredible tinge of sadness and almost pained loneliness. I pray you take a breath and be free. :o/
