Wellies

Wellies are great!

If you're wearing wellies you don't have to walk round a puddle, you can splash straight through it without getting your feet wet, and back again if you want. You can go out in the rain, as long as you've got a coat on, 'cause they keep your feet and legs dry, as they come up to your knees. They're the BIGGEST shoes I've ever had.

Dan says they even protect you from snake bites, which must be true, as no snake has bitten me since I've had them.

I can't wear them at school though, as mum says I've got to look smart for school. I can't wear them in the house either, as mum says they're muddy and make too much mess.

I did wear them to gran's funeral. Mum didn't want me to at first, but I cried 'cause I'd never had a chance to show gran my new wellies before she died and I wanted to wear them to the funeral so her ghost could see them. So mum let me wear them to stop me crying. I felt a bit silly, actually, as everyone else at the funeral was wearing their best shoes and it was just me in wellies.

I'll be able to wear my wellies ALL the time next week, as we're going on holiday. We'll walk through lots of muddy puddles and I'll even be able to wear them indoors, as mum says it doesn't matter about mud if you're in a caravan.
